Song of the Day: ATC - Around the world
Its one of those songs where it doesn't matter how many times I hear it, it makes me smile anyway.
Maybe because its associated with good times - a drive to Subway, a train across Italy, spontaneous karaoke in a hotel room in Mykonos and its one of the few I can bear to hear without feeling sad.
But then again, singing tacky 80s glam rock songs whilst waiting for a bus in the middle of nowhere does it too ;)
I was doing some cleaning up on the weekend. I've had a whole drawer full of papers I'd collected over the years, tutorials on this and jokes about that, that really needed to be sorted out. Anyway, I came across this folder that I must have started years ago where I had been printing old email jokes (I'm sure we've all done this).
Anyway, so I'm reading through this folder, and I come across an email from my good friend Pongo (you know who you are, mango :)) where I asked him "whats irc and how do I use it?"... wooooo boy. That’s like, ancient (1995 I think) and I even printed Pongos reply - a whole discussion on how to circumvent Deakin's shell restrictions on irc and my consequent account on the staff VAX system so I could access the jello irc server.
Ahhh the good old days. How different would life have been had I been interested in cars or something rather than the Internet? Almost every major trial I've had was somehow Internet related. Scary.
