Song of the Day: The Mamma's & The Pappa's - California Dreaming
Gah, so Italy is kind of alright. Sorry for those of you who have expected to hear from me,
finding net cafes is not hard here, its finding the time to sit down and write in one!
Our days are filled with getting out of bed (early.. no sleeping in here :( ), packing up our shit quickly, eating breakfast if our room came with it, rushing to a site or two, and moving our asses to the train station to get the next one to X. I'm absolutely exhausted and cannot wait til we get to the Greek Islands (20th) for a bit of R & R.
So we've been to Athens, Rome, Florence, Pisa, Levante (where we had to spend the night on the beach.. quite possibly the worst night of my life!), Milan, Como (the best place on our trip so far, IMHO), Verona, Venice, Modena (Ferrari Museum blah blah) and today I'm in Monterosso al Mare which is one of the most beautiful places on earth, I am sure.
I'll be in Monterosso for another two nights including tonight (its 4.10 pm here) so if you're in the neighbourhood... hahaha
Tomorrow we're doing the hike between the 5 towns along this beautiful stretch of earth which will probably kill me. They reckon it takes about 4 hrs 20 mins to do the whole thing. After Monterosso, we plan to head back to Rome and stay in an airport hotel because we have an early flight to catch back to Athens. The same day we have a flight to catch to the (hopefully) sweet island of Mykonos where I can sleep a lot. (I hope).
I tell you what the weirdest thing is.. travelling along an Italian train through the hills of Tuscany listening to Powderfinger.. you know the song. I really miss home right now.
