Song of the Day: Cold Chisel - Khe Sanh
Well here's a change.. for a start, the timestamp on this log is actually correct!
Yep thats right.. here I am, back in sunny Adelaide. And fuck is it sunny!
Rewind a few days.. flight from London > Melbourne semi miserable due to godawful sore back and next to no drugs (boo hoo!). In Melbourne for a pitiful 4 days with Michael before whisking off to Adelaide.
Melbourne is different everytime I go there. Something new has been added, or something demolished, and the city I grew up in continues to evolve and erase all signs of my childhood. Apart from being morbid about it, it was totally surreal as I was staying at Casa Wilson, which I'd never visited before. The boy, fabulous.. a year apart, countless obstacles and various fuckwits, and I still love him with all my heart *sigh*. He knows he done good.
Went shopping (OMG *real* clothes!!) and bought two pairs of the *sexiest* shoes I've ever owned. Too bad they're sandals and will probably never be used in London, I don't care. Visa, fuck off.
Meanwhile, over in Adelaide its bloody hot! 30 degree days and I'm dying, I swear it. Went out last Friday with sis and Mark (the-ever-wonderful-patient-nominate-for-sainthood-not-a-bad-word-to-say-about-anyone best mate) for some bevvies on our way to Jason's bon voyage party. (Jason arrives in London the day I leave this crazy country.. and I can't wait to have him here/there/whatever!) Anyway, we got sidetracked (read: pissed) down at the Cranker, followed by Elephant & Wheelbarrow. Dancing away we had a great time, and decided around 1am we should probably front to Jason's party. Seemed rude not to.
The party was in full swing when we showed up, although the late hour meant I missed catching up with some friends. I did however, have a bit of a tearful reunion with Fat Bastard aka Lister the cat, although this might have been tearful due to alcohol consumption. Vaguely remember getting a cab back to Sarah's and passing out after a few hours talking nonsense.
The great thing is, I am slowly migrating all my mates to London so there won't be so much to miss about Adelaide! Although after driving around, having a few contacts with public organisations (customer service!! who knew?!) and being delighted with how much my pounds can buy (my visa account is evil and must be punished!) there is definately a lot to miss. (Apart from the obvious reason back in Melbourne!)
I've still got another week or so here, in which time I'm catching up with other mates and doing various boring things like medical check ups (gah, so organised. I make myself sick!) and buying more clothes. Err.. shoes. Or handbags.. or.. stuff that I need. You know.
I miss London a little. I miss Sharon (who's in Turkey for Anzac Day, as you do) and our nights out. But most of all, this trip has made me remember why I left in the first place - theres still so much of the world I want to see.
xxxx.
