Song of the Day: Jefferson Airplane - Somebody to love
Arrghh.. the mother of all hangovers today.
Nearly deleted my post from last night (you know you're a geek when you get drunk and post to your blog) but figured I'd keep it for posterity.
It was a good night, semi-ok on the scale of all the good nights I've had here. Sharon, Chris, Ben and I rolled up to the World's End in Camden for a few bevvies before heading next door to Underworld, which used to be a damn cool club. Last night though, it was just shite. Not complete shite, but on a scale of 1 to 10, it was about a 5 in terms of shiteness.
Underworld is sort of known to play rock and alternative pop stuff, just my kinda place. Some of the stuff was ok, they played the requisite Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes which got me on the dance floor. But playing stuff like Beck's 'Loser' which is also a great track, but not really for dancing kinda killed the mood a bit. They played Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground also by the 'Stripes and I was surprised at this. I broke off the conversation I was having and jumped on the dance floor. Unfortunately this jump meant I had to take a big step down, and the floor was wet with beer, and well.. down I went. (It didn't help that I was completely plastered!) People immediately helped me up and laughed, and everyone got back to dancing.. but my groove was kinda stuck. And damn if I ain't sore today!
Shared a cab home with Chris, Benno having dissapeared in search of the Great Kebab Whorehouse (lightweight!). Rolled in around 4am (early for this house) with the strains of various Stripes songs stuck in my head, passed out wondering if I would find Adelaide too boring after this.
Oh.. and in case I didn't say it before.. I got tix to Glastonbury! Holy fuck was it hard. I hit the phones and the web with Sharon. Tix went on sale Thurs 8pm, she took the 8-1am shift on the phones, I set my alarm for 3am and right until I went to work I had no joy on the phone. They reckoned at 8.01pm 2 million people simultaneously hit the Glasto website which couldn't cope and died in the arse big time. I wasn't sure til I saw the money go out of my account and now I'm fucking ecstatic. My first Glastonbury! Thats like Woodstock. Wow. Sharon is well stoked too.
So I leave for home next Thursday. This week is gunna be spastic at work, but I am trying to keep stuff free on the evenings just in case I gotta do shit. Will have dinner with Sharon on Tuesday for much needed reality check and girly goss. I swear, that woman is a saint. I'm so glad she's my buddy.. even if she doesn't share my taste in men, music or alcohol :)
